2000 BBC: lord of the rings

With the Peter Jackson films in production, the BBC decided to re-release its classic radio recording of Tolkien’s heroic tale, with packaging redesigned to attract young listeners.

Design head Jan Paterson and art director Matt Bookman wanted a series of images to cover the seven cassettes of this famous recording. The seven
scenes had to link visually so that, when laid side-by-side, they created a panorama - a compositional challenge for Mark, and the first job he created
and delivered digitally.
